December Model of the Month: 3D Printed Decoration
It is getting closer to Christmas so we are all thinking about presents, turkeys and Christmas decorations!
Well at Mcor we are thinking ahead and have designed up a 3D Christmas decoration just for you and this is our December Model of the Month! It is a Christmas bauble with a snowman inside just to get you in the mood! This was designed in-house and 3D printed on the ARKe– now printing in two million colours!
The bauble shape was designed in SolidWorks believe it or not! Then it was taken into Autodesk mesh mixer, here some spheres and cylinders were imported to form the basic outline of the snowman, his hat and gloves. Using the sculpting tools, the scarf and coals were added and this tool also helped to form the gloved hands. The sculpting tool is handy as it allows control of the size of the tool, so small for the eyes and larger for gloves. It also allows control of the depth and the strength of the tools.
The model was then exported and opened in orange peel where colour was added to each shell before using the solidify command to union the shells together and create a printable model.
And here it is –
